I'm reposting in Automation from a post from Dan in General Topics to give it more eyes.
Shutter motor stalls and halts
Whether I use the motor switch or send a command to open, the motor stalls. It won’t drive upward until I hit the switch or command it, three to four times. As well; when I send a command to close the shutter, it stops about halfway down. Send another command, and it stops again until sending another closing command. I'm not certain if I did something wrong, I’ve a defective shutter motor or the single track design; being one-sided, loads up the motor. I’m using strictly ASCOM to control everything per the instructions; e.g., setup and test phases. Any help? Thanks, Dan
Which system are you using?
I recently had issues with the Beaver system and the limit switches being faulty. If the limit switches engage it causes the motor to stall or creep like it’s in a low power mode. So regardless if I used the toggle switch or commands from the software the shutter would be in the stall/creep mode.
I had help with this issue from Lunatico because it was initially thought it was a software issue. One suggestion was to “flick” the limit switch to disengage it. Or try wiggling the wires going into the limit switch to see if it’s causing inadvertent contact.
