my dome rotator makes a audible clicking sound when I hit the manual button for it to rotate after a lightning power surge. does this mean it is toast ?
well I have made progress but still not resolved. I got 2 new beaver replacement boards, and now the rotator seems to be working ok, but the other beaver board for the shutter is not working. and now I can't get an e-mail reply from Babek ? about getting a replacement board.
yep he got back to me from e-mail. gfci and dome surge protector did not take care of it for me. I would highly suggest a surge protector at the breaker box in addition to the gfci and in dome protector. a correctly installed surge protector at the breaker panel would have most likely protected my equipment. I will be getting a Siemens FS140 installed at my house.
Glad to hear your homeowners' insurance will cover the replacement. Are you going to install the upgraded breaker? My power to the dome is via a GFI circuit at the breaker and that plugs into a UPS in the dome with surge protection.
Did Babak ever get back to you. I know from other comments he has become harder to get a hold of, and I find it takes several calls and emails to get a response.
we have concluded it is "fried" and will replace it. just fyi it was protected by gfci and surge protection at the plug, but obviously not sufficient. the next level is surge protection at the breaker box for the house, or unplug the dome when not in use. fortunately my homeowners insurance will cover this.
Depending on how old the unit is, it may be covered under warranty. I’d call and leave a message about getting a warranty replacement and hopefully he’ll call you back. It might take a few calls, following each call with an emails.

Brent, have you gotten back up and working again?
Steven
Glad you got through and on your way to getting back to operating again.

yea but most likely damaged by the surge, also my 10 micron won't power up either. I am not getting a response from nexdome or Babek any suggestions ?
thanks
It seems it’s working. It might be helpful to post an audio of the sound.
