The dome has been working wonderfully for the last several months. However, tonight I tried to turn the system on and I cannot get it to start. My procedure and attempts were as follows:
Turn on the rotator and shutter.
Check the shutter voltage which was 13.1 volts
Start the ASCOM Device hub
Click on “Connect DOME”
The NexDome ASCOM Server panel pops up and starts the initialization process.
Usually after 25 seconds the shutter will connect and I am good to go.
However the NexDome ASCOM Server panel will start the initializing and after 30 seconds flashed to “waiting“ then to “configuring” and finally it will start to blink “Listening”.
I don’t know what it is doing, but I assume it is something simple. To remedy this I have tried the following:
Restarting the computer
Disconnecting the usb and turning everything off and then reconnecting everything.
Turning off and on switch to the shutter control.
Shouting at it.
Nothing works
Do you have any suggestions?
Thank you

Great information 😊
I have been VERY satisfied with Babak’s service. The Beaver platform works well. There is a slight delay with the toggle switch on the shutter as the system boots up. Connection between the rotator and shutter was flawless. The only glitch, or I think a glitch, is that the battery doesn’t seem to charge when the charger is on the lithium switch. I used the shutter several times and when the shutter would connect to the charger, the charger would show the battery as full. Maybe I had not discharged it enough. The other day the charger connected on the Lead connection and the battery charged properly.
you may want to call Nexdome directly. Eva is Very helpful.
I hope that this helps.

I hope that’s on Warranty, ive had it for 3 years and just installed it, I hope I don’t have to do that.
I ended up replacing everything.
im having the same issue, babak is not replying to my emails , my shutter control doesn’t have a battery disconnect , unless its internal
Yes, but Babak is helping me remedy the situation.
Bill, when I first read your post above I thought everything worked out OK, Now that I re-read it, it looks like you're still having connection issues. Is that true?

This morning I tried to start it again with the same results. Then I turned the computer off, disconnected the usb and then started the computer again. I waited about 10 minutes and reconnected the usb. The shutter immediately connected. Go figure. Last night I tried everything for about 1.5 hours, without success.
Maybe yelling, and some swearing, worked!
Keep yelling, it may not work but it should make you feel better. I have no idea why the shutter isn’t connecting other than damage to the antenna. Does the shutter work manually? I also suggest disconnecting the shutter battery for 10 minutes then reconnect and see if that helps. I’d also suggest reinstalling the firmware in case it got corrupted. I’m sure someone more expert in the electronics will help.
