Preferably with pictures as it looks like you need to make something for yourself for the bar to slot into. When you pay the prices asked you expect ro be able to lock the thing.
I've been reading up on these locks because I couldn't figure it out either. My garage door does not have one, so I have no reference (this is a readily available garage lock in case you didn't know. I didn't until today) I'll include a link below to a manufacture of a clone like this one so you can read. Here is what they say:
NOTE: The exterior handle alone cannot unlock the side lock. The bolt is now blocked in place by the release lever. The bolt cannot be unlocked from the outside without adding a lock cylinder to activate the release lever.
I was thinking this lock was supposed to lock AND unlock the door from the outside (without modification). It appears that is not designed to do this unless I'm missing something.
A fellow NexDomer noted that he removed the spring-loaded release lever and that it works now. But it seems the spring-loaded operating lever is putting a lot of stress on the oval plate on the outside around the T bar (where you put the 2 screws to hold the T Bar in place) So perhaps we need to remove that spring as well?
No, the door lock. I had to use 4 x 8 washers and longer screws to enable the locking bar to pull the door shut tightly. One screw had to be sawn to enable the mechanism to be moved.
When I first saw this post I wasn't sure which lock. The door lock, rotation lock or the shutter lock. I'm going to take a guess its the shutter lock. Installations drawing can be found here https://www.nexdome.com/resources NexDome 2.2m Dome Shutter Retention Kit
Hey, I was looking for a post to fix this issue. It's under Modifications: Door Modifications here: https://www.nexdome.com/forum/modifications/door-modifications?origin=business_manager
I hope this helps.
Steven
cheers for that...I will take a look when it stops raining
