Hey everyone,
I have the old version shutter motor with the Beaver controller. Lately, every time I move the shutter, be it through the Beaver software, or through NINA, I immediately get a shutter error when the shutter stops moving. Sometimes this is the “COMMS DOWN!” error, sometimes it just says “Error” for shutter status. The rotation motor remains “Online.” It doesn’t matter if it starts from open or closed, or whether I let it complete the movement itself or if I stop it manually. I then have to restart the Ascom driver/Beaver software for the error to go away. Until I do that, the shutter will not respond to commands and the Beaver software is frozen. The dome will still rotate in NINA. I will appear to have a stable connection until I move the shutter, and then the error occurs as soon as the shutter stops moving.
Does anyone have any idea what this might be caused by? I have no logs handy right now but I can create some if they are needed. I am just hoping someone might have an idea of what might cause such an issue.
Thanks!
Check to see if the open switch is tripped when fully open, and the closed switch is tripped when fully closed. I assume you have the switches on either end of the shutter travel. If so, use a continuity tester to determine if the switches are working properly. If the switches are not tripping on either end, make adjustments to the contact points.
Just a thought, are the open and closed contacts working properly? I get an error message any time the switches are not closed.
